Up and Running Again

I dearly apologize to my readers for being absent for so long. As my Computer Woes post stated, my old XPS M1710 (Roadkill) had a faulty nVidia video card that finally died after just under a year of use. Apparently I was lucky it lasted that long. My husband Quu spent weeks dealing with Dell tech support and finally wrangled them into sending me a new laptop, a shiny refurbished XPS M1730 (now dubbed Cadaver) which I sadly think might have the same nVidia card troubles eventually. However, it’s still a vast upgrade even though I’ve gone back down to Windows XP from my old Vista. Yes, I’m one of the few people who actually really liked Vista despite it’s huge memory consumption. Adding 4 GB of ram made it quite useable. But, that’s another story.

What is even worse is that during the process of moving my data from Roadkill to Cadaver my external hard drive suddenly started giving a master table corruption error. About the only things I had transferred off of it was World of Warcraft and my Steam account. Fortunately we think we have a way to salvage the information off of it soon.

In the mean time I am going to try to get more iPhone App reviews posted. Next one will be for Twinkle, a Twitter App for the iPhone.

Computer Woes

Sadly right about the time I was gearing up to post more iphone app reviews, the videocard on my computer decided to give up the ghost. Thankyou nVidia for faulty cards, thank you Dell for not recalling them. *sighs* Currently we’re going back and forth with Dell to either get my computer fixed or replaced. It’s been one hassle after another since they keep changing their story: “You have to wait for the part to come in”, “The part is on it’s way”, “Part is on backorder, you’ll have to wait a few days”, “The part is on backorder indefently”, “the part is no longer carried and will never be in”. Needless to say we are less than happy with Dell about this whole mess.

As it stands, I’m having major issues working on my computer at all and doing reviews has been on the bottom of my todo list. Trying to keep up with the comments and everything, but hopefully my computer will be fixed and I can start writing more again. I need to update the Mandlebrot review as the developer has added many new features that are amazing. I’m also thinking of doing a followup on the iphone ringtone tutorial to add in things like “show file extensions” and other things.

With hope this will all be done soon, so be paticent with me a little longer.

Top Post? AGAIN!

TopPosts2

That’s right, listed once more on WordPress.com’s Top Posts list, this time for July 26, 2008.

I’m still working on more iPhone App reviews. Will need to edit Satori Sudoku as the author just pushed through an update that fixed the broken puzzle issue. Aurora Feint also updated so I’ll be doing a review on it next.

On related news, quite a few people have mentioned that they are having issues importing their ringtones into iTunes. I can try to help out, but when you post a comment please say what exactly you’ve already done to make/import your ringtones. Remember, you can’t just rename an MP3 to M4R. It has to be converted to M4A first, then to M4R.

Top Post? Wow!

TopPosts Thanks to everyone for reading my iPhone Ringtone post. It was listed as # 32 Top Post for July 21, 2008!

I’m going to try possibly reviewing some iPhone Apps as well as some other internet services I make use of. If you have any requests or suggestions just leave a comment on this post and I’ll see what I can do. No promises though. The point of a blog is to enjoy it, not slave over it.

Growing Pains?

Growing Blogs Apparently this blog was featured in WordPress.com’s “Blog of the Day: Growing Blogs” on July 17, 2008. Wonder if the ranking means anything? Being #4 can’t be that bad.

(Trying to post a picture, hope this upload works.)

With hope I’ll be able to keep posting more good articles, but who knows. I’m currently writing up something on Pandora Radio. Might get it finished today. Cross your fingers.

First Post

I dunno why, but decided to make a wordpress blog. No clue what I’m going to do here. Cross posting from LiveJournal would be nice, but I don’t see an easy way to do it.
